What is the AmeriCorps Kansas Spring Training?

The Kansas Volunteer Commission (KVC) hosts this event to provide professional sessions, networking opportunities and a chance to celebrate AmeriCorps Kansas members.

When is the AmeriCorps Kansas Leadership Summit?

The AmeriCorps Kansas Leadership Summit is from 9:30am – 3:30pm on Friday, March 9. Registration is from 9am – 9:30am. Please be ready to start the event at 10am.

Where is the AmeriCorps Kansas Leadership Summit?

The event will be held at the College and Career Center located at 2910 Haskell Avenue, Lawrence, KS.

Am I required to attend if I am an AmeriCorps Kansas member?

It is highly recommended for all Kansas members to attend this event. Please communicate with your program director about your availability on this day.

Do I need to register in advance for this event?
Yes! All program directors and AmeriCorps Kansas members need to be registered in advance. There is no fee to attend. Here is a link to the online registration form:

What is the agenda?

The agenda includes presentations on storytelling, leadership, Peace Corps, other AmeriCorps programs, and civic engagement. To view the agenda, session descriptions and speaker bios click here:

Will I get to choose what sessions I attend?
Yes, when you register we will ask for your preferences for our planning purposes. On the day of the training, the sessions are first-come, first-serve based on the room capacity. We do ask that each AmeriCorps member attend either the 1pm or 2pm “What Happens Next?” training by Kansas Appleseed around civic engagement.

What should I wear?
Please dress comfortably, casually, and wear your AmeriCorps gear.

What do I need to bring?

AmeriCorps members can bring a pen and notebook for notes and their love of national service! 

Where should I park?

There is plenty of parking on-site either in front or behind the building.

Are meals provided?

Yes, lunch will be provided. We will have a taco bar from HyVee. For special diets, please email or indicate your dietary needs on the registration link.

How do I record my hours for the day?

AmeriCorps members are able to record hours from the time they left their house until they return home. Please note all hours will be considered training and not direct service hours.

How do I change my registration?

If you are not able to attend this event, please email KVC at In addition, please email if you will be arriving late or leaving early. We want to have the most accurate count for the day for food and seating.

How can I give my input about the training?

The Kansas Volunteer Commission will send out an electronic survey after the event via email. We encourage you to give us your constructive and honest feedback so we can make adjustments for future trainings.
